Urban, suburban and rural, Karen Stinnett paints places, which are often architectural and always about the abstraction that light creates on structures. The structures themselves are honest and undecorative. Alleys, rooftops, barns, trailers and hotels make up some of the subject matter but the theme is always the abstract forms the subjects create. It is not uncommon for a collector to favor only one of these forms, collecting only urban or only rural based works. For the artist there is no division. |
